PARKER MAN SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR POSSESSION OF FIREARM

PHOENIX – Galen Fisher, 39, of Parker, Ariz., was sentenced here yesterday by U.S. District Judge Earl H. Carroll to two years in federal prison.  Fisher  pleaded guilty on July 25, 2008, to being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

On October 29, 2007, an officer of the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department responded to a call of shots fired. When the officer responded to the home where the shots reportedly were fired, he saw Galen Fisher holding two handguns. Fisher had been previously convicted of possession of a narcotic drug and aggravated driving under the influence of intoxicating liquors, both crimes punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  The prosecution was handled by Raynette Logan, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
